Look, don’t say I don’t learn — a fortnight ago I lamented my lack of planning re: tying in what I’m featuring with occasions, and this time I’VE ONLY GONE AND BLOODY DONE IT. In honour of World Book Day yesterday, today’s five stars go to Paper and Word, who make gorgeous sleeves for carrying your books around!
I left this review via their automated follow up email:
WHAT a brilliant idea - so happy with this book sleeve. The fabric is gorgeous, and the item feels really luxurious - plus you can tell how much love has been put into the design because it really is the perfect size. I bought it as a gift for my boyfriend, and now need one for myself! I just need to decide on the fabric…
Also, it’s probably not escaped your attention (or your inbox) that today is International Women’s Day. I already try and prioritise buying from businesses founded by people who identify as other than male: at least 7 out of the 9 previous (8 out of the 10 including this one, shoutout gorgeous Abby!) editions of Five Star Fridays have been such. But what might have escaped your notice is that International Women’s Day began as a day advocating for radical social reform. With that in mind, I want to encourage you to bookend your small business review with some political action: sign a petition, email your MP, donate to a relief fund, add attending a protest, march or demonstration to your calendar and actually make arrangements for it (London friends, I’ll be at the march for Palestine tomorrow), change your bank (check out Switch It Green for more info). There are so many things going on in our absolutely dumpster fire of a world right now, but we have to believe that we can make a difference — and this is how 🧡
Thanks for being here; please do take this opportunity to leave a small business you’ve recently had a good experience with a 5 star review. It has such a huge impact!
