Welcome to the first Five Star Fridays of 2024! I gave myself a bit of grace for the first of the year, as I did 3 recommendation posts rounding up my fave substacks over the last half of December, plus I wanted to check in and see how we were all feeling about consumerism after Christmas, a capitalist’s fave time of year (and mine, but for different reasons, I like to think). Just a reminder that these Five Star Fridays are never intended to encourage you to buy things you don’t need, but instead to encourage you to leave positive reviews for the small businesses who deserve it, to help them reach more and more dreamy clients like you.
Now, speaking of dreamy small businesses — today’s review is for Alice Katie Hughes. I had the pleasure of connecting her with another small business pal, Alice Benham, to cater her day retreat in London last week, and here’s my official review:
Alice catered an event I helped out with last week, and it was genuinely like no other event food I’ve ever had. Not only was the spread a feast for the eyes, the food was among some of the best I’ve ever tasted, incredibly fresh, and nourishing too (perfect for an afternoon of workshops). She also dealt with lots of dietary requirements deftly. I couldn’t recommend her highly enough!
Alice also does event cakes, and soooometimes will even treat us mere mortals to a cookie drop 👀 if you knew her when she ran her brand Lovely Buns, you’ll know why that’s such a big deal!
Thanks for being here; please do take this opportunity to leave a small business you’ve recently had a good experience with a 5 star review. It has such a huge impact!
Great brand name... Lovely Buns! 😂
